Darwinism and Neo-Darwinism
Darwinism is the theory of biological evolution. According to this theory, species develop themselves through natural selection of some phenotypic variations which are inherited. These inherited variations help the individuals to compete, survive and reproduce. Isolation doesn’t play a role here. Neo-Darwinism, on the other hand, is an altered explanation of Darwin’s theory (that is, it is recent; has been modified). It focuses on Mendelian genetics (produced in the laboratory) and the modern synthesis of natural selection. Here, the driving force isn’t inherited but gathered from a gene pool with a range of genotypic variations. Here, reproductive isolation plays a major role which emphasises on the natural selection of most suitable genes
